Dear Professor Fischer:

Before the Soviet occupation of Czechoslovakia in 1968, Professor Karel Culik
was internationally regarded as the leading Czech computer scientist.  He
was their usual representative to international meetings dealing with programming.
Since that time, he was able to continue his scientific activities
only with great difficulty until his immigration to the United States last year.
I think that his large and varied publication record shows that he will again
be one of the leading contributors to computer science. 
Pennsylvania State will not regret offering Professor Culik a tenured position.
